DevDhun ("we", "our", or "us") operates devdhun.com. A. Information Automatically Collected from Visitors

  • Standard Server Logs: IP address, browser type and version, referring URL, operating system, and timestamp of requests to ensure server security and diagnostic stability.
  • Security & Session Cookies: We utilize essential first-party cookies including ci_session (to maintain user sessions and preferences) and csrf_cookie_name (to protect form submissions against Cross-Site Request Forgery attacks).

B. Registered User Account Information

  • Account Credentials: When you register for an account on DevDhun, we collect your display name and email address.
  • Cryptographic Password Security: Your account password is never stored in plain text. Passwords are cryptographically salted and hashed using the robust PASSWORD_BCRYPT hashing algorithm. DevDhun staff cannot read or recover your plaintext password.
  • User Preferences: Bookmarked hymns (favorites) and custom devotional playlists created by logged-in users.

C. Kundli (Birth Chart) & Astrological Information

To calculate an authentic Vedic Janam Kundli, planetary degrees, Dasha periods, and Ashtakoot compatibility scores, our system processes specific birth details:

  • Full Name, Gender, Date of Birth, and Exact Time of Birth.
  • Birth City, Country, and calculated Geographic Coordinates (Latitude, Longitude, and Timezone).
Kundli Privacy & Profile Storage Policies:
  • Guest Calculations: For users who calculate a Kundli without logging in, the calculation is generated ephemerally and accessible via an unguessable unique token (result_token). No permanent profile is linked to an account.
  • Maximum 2 Saved Profiles per User: To maintain strict database hygiene and prevent unnecessary data accumulation, each registered user account is strictly limited to saving a maximum of two (2) Kundli profiles. Attempting to save a third profile requires replacing an existing saved profile or deleting an older record.
  • Geocoding Lookup: When searching for your birth city, our system queries the OpenStreetMap Nominatim geocoding service. Only the place name query string is transmitted; your personal name, birth date, and birth time are never sent to external geocoding providers.
  • User Control: You can view, recalculate, or permanently delete your saved Kundli profiles at any time directly from your Kundli dashboard.

D. Contact & Correction Submissions

When you contact our editorial or support desk via email, we receive your email address, sender name, and the contents of your message for the sole purpose of reviewing, investigating, and responding to your inquiry.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely for legitimate operational and devotional purposes:

  • To render devotional texts, synchronized audio, and regional multilingual scripts.
  • To compute accurate Vedic astronomical planetary charts and horoscope compatibility reports.
  • To authenticate registered users and persist personalized favorites and saved Kundli records.
  • To safeguard our platform against malicious activities, automated scraping, brute-force attacks, and denial-of-service attempts.
  • To investigate and correct reported textual errors or copyright notifications.

We DO NOT sell, rent, monetize, or trade your personal information or birth chart data to commercial data brokers, advertising agencies, or marketing networks.

3. Analytics & Tracking Technologies

DevDhun utilizes Google Analytics 4 (GA4) with IP anonymization enabled to monitor aggregate website performance, popular devotional hymns, and technical stability. GA4 collects anonymized metrics such as page views, country-level geography, and device category.

You can configure your browser to reject cookies or use browser extensions (such as Privacy Badger or uBlock Origin) if you wish to prevent analytics collection. Rejecting non-essential cookies will not impair your ability to read devotional hymns on DevDhun.

4. Data Security Standards

We implement defense-in-depth security measures to protect your information:

  • Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS): All communications between your browser and our servers are encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS encryption.
  • Bcrypt Password Hashing: Passwords are protected using strong one-way bcrypt hashing.
  • Rate Limiting & CSRF: Sensitive interactive endpoints (login, registration, and Kundli calculations) are protected by IP-based rate limiting and CSRF security tokens.
  • SQL Injection Prevention: Database operations utilize parameterized queries and CodeIgniter active record bindings.

5. Data Retention & Account Deletion

  • Saved Kundli Records: Stored until deleted or replaced by the user (maximum 2 per account).
  • Inactive Accounts: To keep our database secure and minimal, accounts that have had zero activity for more than four (4) consecutive months are automatically pruned during scheduled maintenance routines.
  • Right to Erasure: You have the right to request the complete deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time. Simply send an email from your registered address to support@devdhun.com with the subject "Account Deletion Request".
